Davao Light and Power Co. (DLPC) raised its residential electricity rate to P13.24 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for the September 11 to October 10, 2026 billing period, up by P0.34 from P12.90/kWh in the previous month.
The increase was attributed to higher electricity prices at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), driven by tight power supply in Mindanao amid high demand.
To help manage the impact on consumers, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) reinstated the Secondary Price Cap in the Visayas and Mindanao grids in August 2026 and ordered a recalculation of charges.
ERC also approved Davao Light’s request to stagger the collection of certain generation charges instead of billing them all at once.
Davao Light reminded consumers that electricity rates may change monthly depending on market prices and encouraged the public to practice energy conservation.
