MAJORITY of buses operating in Davao City will not ply their routes on Good Friday, March 30, the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (Dcott) announced.

Dcott manager Aiza Usop said only Mindanao Star, for southbound, and Bachelor and Rural Transit, for northbound, will have trips.

Other buses such as ACF, Norlin, Metro Shuttle, YBL, Golden Valley, and Philtranco bound for Pasay will temporarily cease their operation on the that day.

With the expected influx of passengers who will return to their provinces to spend Holy Week or take a vacation, Dcott will temporarily scrap the interval policy of 15, 20 and 30 minutes. It means that buses which are already full will be allowed to leave.

Based on their records, there are usually more than 1,000 trips a day with 60,000 to 70,000 passengers during the Holy Week.

Dcott has already coordinated with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to ensure that the drivers are fit and guarantee roadworthiness of the vehicles.

She also requested for the cooperation and patience of the public during inspection for security purposes.

Those who will be traveling with their pets are advised to secure a permit to carry animals to avoid further inconvenience. Passengers who do not intend to travel by bus are advised to go to satellite van terminals at Gaisano Mall, Victoria Plaza, Abreeza Mall and SM Mall.

Complaints may be reported to Dcott office. If the porters are involved, they only have to get the ID number of the porter and report it to their office as they can easily track him down.

The standard rates for baggage handling range from P50 for 50 kilograms (kgs) and P75 for more than 50 kgs.
